Ashden Manor — An Exclusive-Use Georgian Wedding Venue

Ashden Manor is a premium, single-page website designed to solve the core anxieties of recently engaged couples planning a high-end wedding. Traditional hotel venues often feel transactional, leaving couples worried that a strict 100-guest limit will feel restrictive, the atmosphere too formal, or the lack of privacy not worth the cost. This project solves that problem by positioning "exclusive use" as the ultimate luxury. Built with an elegant, editorial aesthetic using a custom Deep Olive and Warm Linen colour palette, the site directly addresses the couple's four core concerns through warm, conversational copy and a clear capacity breakdown. By combining an immersive asymmetrical hero section, a bespoke photo gallery, and an accessible, validated enquiry form, the website transforms a simple venue listing into a highly personal, conversion-focused digital experience. Coded entirely with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, it delivers a lightning-fast, mobile-first performance that feels as bespoke and premium as the venue itself.
What I learned
Building the Ashden Manor website taught me that effective web design is far more about solving a client's business problem than it is about writing clever code. I learned that premium design demands restraint; resisting the urge to use heavy frameworks or flashy animations in favor of a strict, brand-aligned color palette and elegant typography (like Cinzel and Cormorant Garamond) resulted in a site that feels far more luxurious and bespoke. From a technical perspective, I deepened my understanding of building complex, asymmetrical layouts using CSS Grid and ensuring the experience remains flawless on a mobile screen without any horizontal scrolling. Furthermore, collaborating with other developers taught me that while it is baseline code and CSS structure, human oversight is critical. I learned to design with different brands, spotting where it applied an unreadable black background to buttons or broke a JPG logo with a CSS filter, and fixing those issues myself. Ultimately, I learned that the most important quality in this job is attention to detail, thoughtful problem-solving, and having the discipline to keep the user's actual needs at the center
